What spaces are available for events and what are the capacities?
Upstairs Dining Room
Capacity: 35 seated | 50 cocktail-style
Layout: Round tables, includes private bar
Our upstairs dining room holds up to 35 guests for seated meals. This space features a private bar, vaulted ceiling and large picture windows overlooking Roslyn Pond. Round tables seat approx. 5-7 guests each and cannot be conjoined or removed.
Please note that the only restrooms available at thyme are also located upstairs, therefore guests dining in other spaces may need to come through the space during your event. Additionally, the upstairs dining room is not handicapped accessible.
Main Dining Room
Capacity: 60 seated | 100 cocktail-style (61+ requires restaurant buyout)
Layout: Combination of round & rectangular tables, includes main bar/cocktail tables & outdoor porch.
The main level of the restaurant may be utilized for larger events; this includes the large mahogany bar/bar area and main dining room with French doors leading to the attached outdoor porch (w/ retractable awning) overlooking Roslyn Pond. The main dining room features a large picture window also overlooking the water, as well as a fireplace. This space holds up to a maximum of 60 guests for seated meals.
As a reminder, the restaurant's only restrooms are located upstairs and the upstairs dining room and restrooms are not handicapped accessible, as we are located in a historic building, built in 1890.
How much does it cost to host an event at thyme?
There are multiple elements we take into account when pricing an event, including:
Price-Per-Guest: We do not have specific "packages" for private events; each event is customized. We’ve outlined some starting points below, however actual pricing varies and may go up from there depending on the specific menu, bar & beverage selections and specific details. We will be able to discuss this in more detail once we get a better understanding of your desired menu, event format, number of guests and exact date/timing.
All private events typically include a three-hour, fully-inclusive, multi-course menu. You’ll have exclusive use of your selected space, dedicated staffing, and custom-printed guest menus.
- Private brunch and/or luncheon menus, including bar & beverages, typically start at approx. $85* per person.
- Private seated dinner menus, including wine, beer & soft drinks, typically start from approx. $110-$125* per person.
*Hors d'oeuvres may be additional; Fri/Sat evenings and holidays may be additional.
We have several bar and beverage options available, including soft, limited, and complete open bar.
Minimum for space: Minimums may be charged as food & beverage (price-per-person), room/space fee, or a combination of these - This is not a separate fee. Minimums vary depending on exact day/date/time and space requested - Please contact our events manager to discuss details & pricing minimums further by phone.
Tax & administrative fee: There will be an 8.625% tax and a 20% administrative fee on the final bill that is not included in the minimum. Gratuity is optional, and not mandatory or guaranteed.
Where can I view sample event menus, photos & event planning details?
You can visit the private events section on our website here to view additional planning details, photos and sample private event menus … The menus showcased online are just a few examples, designed to show the style of menu and types of food we typically offer for events. A combination of these menus may be available, as well as something more tailored to the needs of your event.
Once you have had a chance to speak with our events manager by phone, and we have all the specifics, including exact day/date/time, minimum/maximum possible number of guests, and menu & bar options you are interested in offering, we would be happy to put together a personalized proposal and pricing for you to review!
How can I hold the date/space?
thyme requires a signed contract and 50% non-refundable deposit to hold any date/space and formally book an event. We prefer to book a minimum of two weeks in advance, however feel free to call about last-minute availability! Most events book up to nine months in advance, and we are willing to reserve up to a maximum of one year in advance with contract/deposit.
